Do you ever look at pictures of yourself as a child and wonder what happened to your bright white teeth? The normal process of aging has a lot to do with tooth discoloration. When you add in lifestyle habits such as smoking and drinking wine, coke, or coffee, it’s easy to understand how teeth go from the bright white of childhood to the stained yellow teeth many adults have.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Your first visit to our Sevierville, Tennessee dentist office for your whitening procedure Dr. William Pippin will create a mold, then take an impression of your teeth. He uses the dental impression to fabricate custom whitening trays for each row of your teeth. Dr. Pippin completes this procedure in our office in just two visits.
Dr. Pippin takes extra care to make the whitening trays durable and comfortable, so you should have no problem keeping them in your mouth.
Once your customized trays are ready for use, you place whitening gel inside of each one and place them over each row of teeth. We use professional grade whitening gel that contains carbamide peroxide. This ingredient reaches the enamel of your teeth at the deepest layer, and changes the color of the dentin. You should wear the trays for several hours a day for the amount of time Dr. Pippin prescribes. You will want to remove them to eat and brush your teeth. You should notice a difference in the shade of your teeth within just a few days.
What Results May I Expect?
When you complete the process you may reasonably expect your teeth to be four to eight times brighter than they were before!
The results typically last several months, so you need not consider repeating the procedure for at least that long.
